Alfred (Al) Stratton Lawrence III

Al Lawrence died on Tuesday, January 17, in Panama City. Born in Durham, NC, Al was the elder son of the late Rev Alfred Stratton Lawrence, Jr and Alma Lee Lawrence.

Al was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Porter Lawrence and is survived by his wife Judi, his daughter Ashley Eaton (Billy), Judi's son George Laird (LeAnne) and four granddaughters, Samantha, Sarah and Sophia Eaton and Hannah Laird. He is also survived by his brothers Tommy Lawrence (Tallahassee) and John Lawrence (Kathy) of Crystal Beach, Fla. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, friends and extended family.

Al graduated from The Patterson School in Lenoir, NC, and attended Louisiana State University where he studied business administration. He remained an avid supporter of LSU sports throughout his life. He grew up in Baton Rouge and worked in Huntsville and Tallahassee before fulfilling his dream of living near the water. This opportunity was made available to him when his uncle Hank Lawrence offered him a job with Lawrence Oil Company. Al enjoyed boating and fishing and was a talented craftsman, spending many happy hours with creative woodwork projects in his home. He was an ardent dog lover.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity or to the Port St Joe Humane Society, 1007 10th Street, Port St Joe, Fla 32456. This was the rescue home of Al's beloved companion Joe.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 28th at the Columbarium, Holy Nativity Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 in Holy Nativity's Battin Hall prior to the service.
