Obituary

Alfred "Al" Land, 84, of Panama City, danced his way into Our Lord's Arms on August 16, 2008. He was born in Bonifay, Florida on September 9, 1923. He was a plant supervisor for Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 43 years. He attended Emerald Coast Fellowship Baptist Church and was also a member of the Elks Lodge for 36 years. He was President of the Saturday Night Ballroom Dance and Social Club for 7 years. He served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Doris I. Land and a son, David A. Land, sister Carolyn Land Eddins and a brother-in-law Charlie Eddins. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Smith and Denise Anthony of Lynn Haven, Doreen Norsworthy and husband Michael of Bayou George, his son, Darrel Land and wife Cindy of Springfield; sisters, Francis Alden and husband Bob, Patty Everett, all of Panama City, Nancy Clark and husband Jerry of North Carolina, brother, Tony Land of Panama City, 5 grandchildren, Lorie Bradshaw, Amanda Norsworthy, Elizabeth Norsworthy, David Anthony, Celina Anthony; 7 great grandchildren, Brett, Trent & Garrett Bradshaw, Michael Troy & Waylon Ralph Turner, Michael Dalaine Riley, Angela Clark and close friend, Wilma Brown. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Steve Everitt and Rev. Steve Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd., Panama City, Florida 32405 or the Elks Lodge #1598, Children's Hospital, 101 West Beach Drive, Panama City, Florida 32401 in memory of Alfred Land.
