Obituary

Al Van Horn, 79, of Panama City, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012. He was born Sept. 6, 1932 in Columbia, North Carolina to John W. & Hilda Van Horn. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army with the 27th Infantry Division during the Korean War and was the recipient of two purple hearts. The family moved to Panama City in Feb. 1961 from Valley Forge, PA and drove out of the snow. He pulled over to the side of the road and took the snow chains off the tires and left them beside the road. He said we won't be needing these again. He established and was former owner of Van Horn Auto Salvage.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois Van Horn; daughters, Linda Ann Zaiger (Norb), Brenda Sue Van Horn (Bruce Davidson), Sandra Jo Marshall (Alan); son, John Douglas Van Horn (Sylvia); seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday night, February 21, 2012.

A private scattering of the ashes will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Dent for his care of our loved one.
