AC Smith
1923 - 2013
AC Smith, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was born February 2, 1923 and has been a lifelong resident of Panama City. He served our country in World War II and was also a soldier for Christ. AC was a wonderful provider for his family as he was employed with West Florida Gas and retired after 30 years. He also played football for University of Florida. He helped in starting the ministry of Central Baptist Church and Panama Christian School. He faithfully loved serving at Central Baptist Church for over 57 years. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch swing, with Jean, bird watching. AC was always available to help anyone in need. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife, Jean Thomas Smith of 67 years. Their family was blessed with their children: John W. Smith and wife Cheryl, Robbie J. McNichols, David F. Smith and wife Stacey, Emily Ann Dillon and husband Lloyd, and Cam Ron Smith and Jamie. Also their 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Central Baptist Church at 11:00am with graveside service following at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m., one hour prior to service time. We celebrate he is in heaven today because of his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We, his family, rejoice with hope while grieving his death because this is not the end of his story. We invite you to come celebrate his life with us. We also would like to thank the nursing staff at St. Andrews Nursing and Rehab. In lieu of flowers, we ask to please send memorial donations to Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
