Obituary

Our sweet mom, Abijah “Abie” Williams, 91, passed away July 14, 2026 in Panama City, FL. She was born and raised in Alexander City AL, before meeting her husband Willie and beginning her life as an Air Force wife and eventually a mother of four children. In 1972, while stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base, Willie retired and the family settled in Callaway, FL.

Abijah spent her youthful summers swimming in the creek she was baptized in. She grew up surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Many a Sunday afternoon all would gather at her grandfather’s home for a catfish and hush puppy meal cooked up by her aunts. Mom was married in 1955 to the love of her life, Hector “Willie” Williams. The two met while Abijah was in nursing school in Sylacauga AL and Willie was stationed at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery AL. Our family traveled extensively during our father’s military service and with each new base assignment she made many lifetime friends along the way. Her hobbies included ceramics, gardening, and flower arranging. She had a special soft spot for her two dogs Crisi and Daisy, and her cat Blackie.

Upon settling in Callaway, FL our family joined Howard Carlisle Baptist Church and mom served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years. She has remained in touch with two dear church friends; Mary Mason of Monroeville, AL and Ruthel Ward of Panama City, FL. Mom was a faithful Christian and a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She was in love with her grandchildren, and they brought her immense joy.

Abijah is survived by her four children; daughter Lisa Tiller (Joel) children Caroline and Annabelle; Son, Marcus Williams (Linda) children Alissa, Russell, Stephen, Kurtis, Christopher, and Jennifer; Son, Gregory Williams (Dena) children Stephen, Brandy, Brittany, Dylan; Daughter, Elizabeth Weaver (Tom) children Sophie, Hannah, and Gwyneth and thirteen great grandchildren. Abijah is survived by one aunt, Pearl King aged 109 years, and cousins Nancy Hutchinson, Gloria Braune, Bob and John Howard, and Don Reynolds. One brother-in-law, Arthur Williams (Arlene), and a close nephew Jamie Reynolds (Rachel) as well as many other nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband Hector George Williams. Her parents, Orval and Mary Reynolds. Brother Preston Reynolds and sister Joy Houle.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s, and staff at Pruitthealth Panama City who helped us care for our mother these last few years. Mom had many dear friends at Pruitt and was loved by all.

Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home, Panama City, Fl on Tuesday July 28th. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with service following at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital and Samaritan’s Purse.
