Charlie Alonzo Weeks, 82, entered his eternal resting place July 29, 2012, following a brief illness at Bay Medical Center. Charlie was born in Parker on March 3, 1930 to his parents, Charles and Allie Mae Weeks. He attended school in Parker and was a graduate of Bay High School Class of 1948. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Mississippi and received his Masters at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Charlie taught Biology in the Louisiana education system for 30 years prior to his retirement.
Charlie was an active member and participant in the Forest Park United Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Men’s Club and the National USM Alumni Association, past president and active member of the local USM Alumni Chapter, member of the Kiwanis Club, Local Republican Party, and past member of the St. Andrews Yacht Club, where he enjoyed many hours of competitive racing with his buddies.
His passion was his football games at USM and out of town games he attended with family and friends. He always enjoyed playing golf on Tuesdays and Thursdays with his three golf buddies. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Joyce Weeks; three children, Mike Weeks (Linda), Phil Weeks (Grace), Tricia Weeks Dubos (Jim); four step children, Cynthia Capps, James Capps, Robert Capps (Denise), Richard Capps (Nok); thirteen grandchildren, Trent, James, Meghan, Hunter, Samira, Sabrina, Briana, Kayla, Charlie, Johnathan, Isabella, Matthew, Alex; four siblings, Doralee Davis, David Weeks, Doyle Weeks, Yvonne Godert and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Friedman officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. prior the service. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Beach Retreat, 207 Summerwood Drive, Panama City Beach, FL 32413 in memory of Charlie Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Kiwanis Club, Men’s Club and the Bay High School Class of 1948. The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Jones and the Nursing Staff in MICU at Bay Medical Center for their loving care they gave.
